DWS Mission

To enhance the functional capabilities & technical proficiency of the Armed Citizen or Professional through performance based education. Defensive Warfighter Strategies delivers a progressive methodology for adapting to the current threat environment.

DWS AUDIENCE

DWS defines the Armed Citizen as anyone who can legally possess a firearm. The Armed Professional is anyone who is paid to be armed in the performance of their jobs. The major difference between the two is in regard to the tactics and disposition of an armed encounter. The Armed Professional is responsible to contain, control, and render proper dispensation of an armed confrontation in their jurisdiction. The Armed Citizen has no responsibility as such and is encouraged to disengage from an armed confrontation when possible, but be prepared to act in a lethal manner when no other option is available.

Behind the Name

There is a 2 part meaning to the company name. Having spent a couple weeks jotting down a insane combination of words & phrases, that had nothing to do with the word “tactical”, the main reason for setting on the business name.

  1. Defensive - was a no brainer for me personally. As a Military Police Soldier, I conducted continuous combat support missions, QRF response, to working PSD, force protection and Law Enforcement operations. The MP Corps. motto itself is Assist - Protect - Defend. We specialize in small unit tactics in high threat environments with little to no support. As armed citizens, we are never trying to find or escalate a issue to involve deadly force, we’re just ready for it.

  2. Warfighter - I trained for and fought in one, got decorated for it, and received a medical chapter because of it.  The underline tone to such an aggressive sounding word is simple.  Knowing and understanding how to bring controlled aggressive violence to those who intend to bring it upon myself or others.  Reflecting on the core skills that were needed to protect and preserve life given the often chaotic environment I was functioning in.

As for the second part of the name: To pay homage to all the 300 pound huckleberries out there who couldn't fight their way out of a bucket of fried mayonnaise balls, but refer to themselves as “Gunfighters” who teach “Gunfighting” yet have NEVER come within a mile of a real engagement - Never taken fire, returned fire, or pulled the trigger on another human being.

  3. Strategies - How do we look at overall goals to achieve and the plan to get there? This is completely different from tactics, since they are the individual steps and measured by the end result. What’s the plan if I’m in my house, car, restaurant, movie theater, or in a park area .. etc. It’s not a 1 scenario fits all world we live in. This goes back to Principles & Concepts in training. Core skills never change, just the environment.
